Premier and Cabinet Canyon Tour
Hauka Creative Communications offered community liaison, communications, event management and creative services for this September 8, 2008 tour by Premier Gordon Campbell and five Cabinet Ministers through the Fraser Canyon. MP Chuck Strahl also attended events in Lytton. The strategy was to facilitate constructive communications between community representatives and the Premier and cabinet ministers to realize the maximum benefit from this tour. It was a great success, one that helped the communities get access to the provincial and federal levels of governance to raise issues of immediate and long-term concern.

Take two aging consultants, throw them in a 4X4 in the middle of winter and challenge them to consult communities from Barkerville to Hope in five days flat and what do you get? Gord and Don’s Excellent Adventure. To ensure support for New Pathways To Gold Society events, the Executive Director, Gordon Rattray, and Don Hauka engaged in extensive face-to-face consultations with local partners in communities. We held 20 meetings in 17 communities in five days, making presentations to local councils, Spirit Committees, First Nations leaders, tourism associations and heritage facility operators.

Using the “small is beautiful” approach to promote events, projects and core messaging, Hauka Creative Communications gets results for its clients. By using its extensive network of media, community, government and other contacts, HCC generated local, regional, national and international coverage for clients like the New Pathways To Gold Society, generating hundreds of print and web stories journals as diverse as the Hope Standard, Vancouver Sun, the Globe and Mail, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Orilla Packet & Times, and the Guardian (UK). When combined with media sponsorships and broadcast coverage, HCC’s communications strategy netted NPTGS a total combined audience of over 10.5 million readers/viewers and coverage worth an estimated $450,000 in 2008.
